Starbucks!

I wasn't sure if we were supposed to blog or not, but I will do it anyway.

I thought the presentation was great. I loved it. I think it is so great that they are standing up for what they believe in, even though it could get them fired (which happened to some people). I love it when people are passionate about a change in a positive way. I remember learning about the IWW when I was in high school, it's really cool to see and hear how that union is making a difference in a big way. I remember when Mr. Kizzier asks the presenters why didn't they just quit their jobs and go to another job if they were so unhappy, and I completely agree with their respond. It is much bigger than job, it's about making a difference; not only for themselves but for all the people after them, and all the people who are involved in the IWW. They definitely inspired me to want to make a positive difference in the world. I want to leave a mark on society in a way that will make a difference for people.

Dance Performance

Overall i thought the performance was very entertaining. I know it took a lot of hard work from the dancers. I would have liked to see more pieces of the dance company.I loved watching Grand Pas Classique. Laura Villalobos had great technique and performance quality. As a dancer I tend to notice the technique of the dancers and performance quality of the dancer in depth.I enjoyed watching C1N9E8EL4A because it was something different to watch at a performance. My favorite oart of the movie was when the two girls were on top of the roof doing a modern combination. I would have liked it to have been longer because I was a little confused at the end as to what happened without reading the background in the program. There was very good editing of the dancers. I liked that you could see all the movement of the dancers and it was not chopped into pieces so that you could only see an arm moving or half the body.

CCBC Dance Festival

I must say that those talented dancers worked very hard to perform what they did today. I enjoyed the presentation for the most part but the only thing that kinda caught my eye was the fact that there were a few mistakes. I know that this isn't broadway but some things one can't help but mess up and thats cool with me. Don Quixote Pas De Deux was ok but I think that they young lady was a little shy and I don't fault her for that, she did her best. The Grand Pas Classique was very pretty to me. Both Laura and Joseph did a wonderful job of the ballet but Ms. Laura took the show to me. I loved her outfit. The C1N9E8EL4A was a very good movie but I was throwed off as of what happened in the end and how this other young lady and cinderella where dancing on the top floor of the building. That was the only thing that threw me off but other than that it was nice. The celebration song was kinda boring in the beginning so I thought nothing was going to happen after that but I was wrong, it became interesting towards the end. I commend them for working so hard for what they performed today. I really enjoyed the presentation today, it was a nice experience to witness.

I found the presentation to be very educational on Unions. i personally did not know much about Unions except that they work together and that you have to pay dues. I find it amazing that two people started this much conterversy.Watching the movie they presneted was great. I can not believe that that many people would attend a rally for the one guys first day back or that they would fight that hard for one person. The presentors really made me think about my job and my office surroundings.

it talks about how people hear and know about starbuck and how they wanted their voice to be heard because that really meant somthing to them. Also they do alot of occasion of the things they do by celebrating people in the past like martin luther kings action telling Starbucks that there not backing down and that it must honor Dr. King's Day on January 19th, 2009 with the same holiday premium it pays on five other federal holidays.

the starbucks employes started wearing buttoms to support what is going on which i feel will make a difference beacuse the people who come in to buy a drink will ask what is it and they are able to give info about what is going on and get more people to back them up. they are starting to lay people off because they are over priced nad they have other compaines like fast food places that are starting to sell the same thing but cheaper and taste the same which makes everyone want to go there instead of startbiucks. they are losing some stores with what is going on they should take a step back and rethink a new way of doing what they are doing.

I discovered various articles about the Star bucks union one of which was a altercation between a off duty barista and another manager from a different store. The altercation started when the barista was questioned by the other manager about her purpose in being in a union when star bucks offer is employees various benefits.This tied in with other cases of several star buck chains attempting to keep union members from meeting and have their meetings.
