Becoming Adolf

1) In Becoming Adolf, Rich Cohen combined the research and his personal story. When he was watching Bill O’Reilly interviewing Richard Dawkins the author of God Delusion. He was intrigue by the topic of Hitler and Stalin having a mustache made them more susceptible to evil. Right there he had an epiphany to grow a mustache. His personal wants leaded him to do a research about the Toothbrush mustache that Hitler had and it’s origin.
b) The effect the mustache had on him was that it leaded him to reading and researching more about the origin of the Toothbrush mustache and Hitler. He also grew a mustache through this process and noticed that people react nagatively when they see you with a Toothbrush mustache.
2) Cohen Rich leaned that in wearing Hitler’s mustache that he was Hitler too (p.20). He also learned that when you shave like Hitler, you follow the same rule you follow with bees. He came to realize that no matter how long or how casually he wore the mustache, it still belonged to Hitler and that he cannot claim it or own it because it’s too dirty and it’s soaked up too much history. He also realized that when you wear the toothbrush mustache, you are wearing the worst story in the world and he doesn’t want it (p.21).
b) I learn more about the origin of the Toothbrush mustache and the bad effect it has when people have it.
