Toothbrush stache

Becoming Adolf by Rich Cohen Is about the history and story behind the Toothbrush mustache. The author grows one to attempt to destroy the link in our minds that relate the specific style mustache to Hitler. By the end he realizes that it is impossible because it has "soaked up to much history" to wear with dignity and Its like "you are wearing the worst story in the world right under your nose".

The author combines his personal story with research by using his experience of wearing the mustache as his own research. He gives history on the mustache so you realize the significance, and he uses his experience to further understand how the mustache can affect him or make others view him. Because the author uses this combination I find myself better understanding why you simply can not wear the toothbrush style mustache with glory.

The author learns that he can not remove the thought of Hitler that accompanies the Toothbrush mustache. Anyone who decides to wear the style will be looked at with confusion or anger and disgust because of how horrified some were of Hitler and how terrible he was. I learned a lot about the significance and history of the toothbrush mustache, I was honestly never aware how much the style symbolizes Hitler.
