He gives history on the mustache so you realize the significance, and he uses his experience to further understand how the mustache can affect him or make others view him. Because the author uses this combination I find myself better understanding why you simply can not wear the toothbrush style mustache with glory.

The author learns that he can not remove the thought of Hitler that accompanies the Toothbrush mustache. Anyone who decides to wear the style will be looked at with confusion or anger and disgust because of how horrified some were of Hitler and how terrible he was. I learned a lot about the significance and history of the toothbrush mustache, I was honestly never aware how much the style symbolizes Hitler.
