Tripp Lake

In Tripp Lake by Swink is about a ten year old girl named Lauren Slater who goes away to an all girls camp where she soon begins to have fears and worries about her mother. She feels like she's betraying her mom because she's doing things her mother could never do when she was younger. Lauren soon realizes she needs to stop worrying about her mom and focus on herself where she begins to face her fears at the end.

1. When the author says "her face a mixture of terror and exhilaration, the balanced combination that means only one thing: mastery." I believe she's trying to give a vivid description about Kim's face and how she fears making the jump even though she's done it many times before but loves the thrill of doing it knowing that she has accomplished this or will makes it mastery which what Lauren wants to be able to have but she has too much fear and not enough exhilaration like Kim has to do it.

2. On pg.246 I think "way forward" is that Lauren finally came to realize not to worry about her mother anymore, that she needs to worry about her own life and when she's afraid to face her fears she can think back to that day with Kim and Rain and remember she faced her fear and that she can do it again.
