Tripp Lake

Tripp Lake by Swink is about a ten year old girl who goes to summer camp for the first time. The whole time she is upset about her mom missing out on life and not being able to live like her. She finally finds a way to feel better when she masters riding her horse.
1. In the quote on page 244 the author is saying that Kim has the same fear that she has, but can control. There is terror in Kim's face, but also a rush of adrenaline that pushes her to make the jump. Lauren recognizes the fear, but needs to balance it out with the trill of the ride to master the jump.
2. The "way forward" refers to Lauren moving forward in her horse riding and also her life. She has learned how to move pass the guilt she has for her mother and live her own life based on her own feelings.
