Tony Guercio's Bio

I am a 31 yr old returning student to CCBC. My last semester was fall of 2004, and to be honest it feels a little strange to actually be back in school. My first semester of college was in Spring of 1997 at Harford Community College, so I have been working on getting a degree for quit some time. My main obstacle in achieving this goal has been that until now I really have never known what I wanted to do in terms of a career. Due to some of the experiences in my life I have decided to pursue a career as a lawyer. I am currently working as a bartender at the Greene Turtle in Towson. I am a big sports fan and am still a little disappointed about the way the Ravens season ended. They definitely exceeded expectations but I had high hopes in the playoffs and really, really hate the Steelers. I spend a lot of time in the gym lifting weights, and trying to eat healthy. During the winter months I really don't do much other than work and now go to school.

The last thing I wrote was an e-mail to the Democratic Congressional Committee in response to the petition they put out a couple weeks ago against Rush Limbaugh for his comments about wanting President Obama to fail. Whether you agree or disagree with those comments as an American he has the right to make them.

The last book I read was called Busting Vegas by Ben Mezrich. It's a true story about an MIT "whiz kid" who won hundreds of thousands of dollars counting cards in the LasVegas casinos in the nineties. I enjoy going to Las Vegas and playing Blackjack so naturally I was drawn to that book.

As far as the last event I attended on campus, I think I went to see a speaker for my speech 101 class, but that was about 6 yrs ago so I can't remember for the life of me who the speaker was or where he was from, but I do remember going.

I don't really spend a lot of time in my car anymore. Mostly just back and forth to work which is about 5 miles each way. I've tried to cut back on driving as much as possible to avoid paying the gas prices that were reaching the $4 gallon level just a couple months ago. Most of the errands I have to run are pretty close to my apartment so I would say I spend less than an hour a day in my car typically.

Other than getting an A in 102 my goal for this class is to get back in the swing of things in school. It's been awhile so I feel I need to get used to reading and then writing about what I read again so that I can successfully complete the Pre-Law requirements that I am seeking.
